Storyline:

A serial killer plays mind games with a dogged detective who is always one step behind him.

Suspense master William Goldman (Marathon Man) wrote the novel from which this bizarre black comedy was adapted. It's the extraordinary account of a plumber who kills a dowdy matron, a priest who kills a dowdy matron, and a policeman who kills a dowdy matron. Actually they are the same man, a psychotic master of disguise brilliantly played by versatile Rod Steiger.

The killer also gets his kicks phoning in clues to detective George Segal. All of New York trembles as a sixth strangling is reported in the papers. And the man with the makeup kit stalks another victim… the detective's girlfriend (Lee Remick). A suspenseful, macabre game of cat and mouse.

A master of disguise stalks the streets of New York, strangling his female victims in a variety of, well, disguises, all the while phoning clues into the detective on the case to keep the chase interesting. Now he wants to up the ante once more--his next target is the detective's girlfriend! A black comedy based on the novel by William Goldman.

Adapted from William Goldman's novel, NO WAY TO TREAT A LADY is a darkly comic thriller detailing the the story of Christopher Gill (Rod Steiger), a Broadway producer whose troubled relationship with his mother has transformed him into a demented killer. Gill, a master of disguise, targets women throughout New York City, gaining entry into their homes and then strangling them. Now, it's up to Morris Brummel (George Segal)-- a Jewish police officer with mom problems of his own -- to track down Gill before he strikes again. And the maniac's next victim could be Kate Palmer (Lee Remick), Brummel's new girlfriend.
